Google Going Nuclear?
So apparently Google bought some company outside the U.S. that is really good at isotope separation. (I’ll explain isotopes below for those who have no idea what the hell they are.) The plan, according to TechCrunch (the most reliable of sources, I know) is to create small nuclear plants to run the Google data centers and work places as part of the company’s effort ot green itself.

Check-in Mania →
Much to Liv’s annoyance (read aggravation and hatred) I like using the various “check-in” services like Gowalla and Foursquare. They’re fun little games and I’ve discovered a few places I wouldn’t have known about had I not been searching for nearby places to go. (A Touch of Yogurt, yum.)
Today I found a new site that will let me check-in and shows various...
Why Techs Are Usually Jerks
I’m a tech geek. I’ll admit it and I really don’t care about the stigma that admission places on me, and I don’t care how “sheik” it supposedly is to be a geek, we’re still looked down on in most circles.
Being a tech geek I’ll be the first to admit that sometimes, I’m a jerk. In fact, sometimes, I’m just a straight-up asshole....
At The Movies Cancelled →
I remember waiting excitedly as a child for a new episode of Siskel and Ebert to air. It was one of the few shows that both my brothers, I and my parents enjoyed watching together. We’d make some popcorn, or grab some snacks and sodas and sit down to watch “Sneak Previews.”
Other than “The Gummy Bears” and “Smurfs,” “Sneak Previews” was my...
Now That I've Landed
So here’s the wrap-up of the flight. I’ll give U.S. Airways a solid 5 out of 10. Meaning they were just about average overall.
The biggest issues weren’t with the flight crew, who were obviously bored. It was with some of the decisions and planning that obviously come from the corporate headquarters.
One problem is in a required announcement on all U.S. Airways flights....
Quickly, Before I Get On The Plane
I’ve been flying a lot lately. Having a girlfriend in school on the other side of the country is really stressful, time consuming, and expensive. That said, she’s worth it.
Anyway, I’m about to get onto another dreaded U.S. Airways flight. Not my preferred carrier to say the least. It seems to me that the entire staff is having a case of the Mondays…..everyday.
No,...
Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics
When I was in college one of the courses I hated more than anything else was statistics. This hatred stemmed from one, and only one, source. The professor was awful. She was angry. Her lectures were disjointed and confusing. She wasn’t a teacher there to help us through the work, she was a dictator bent on overwhelming the students with her ego.
Had it not been for the fact that there...
Why Daylight Savings, Why?
OK, seriously, can we please get rid of this archaic tradition? Please! There’s just no reason for it anymore.
We’re talking about a practice that was put into place to reduce the amount of whale oil we had to burn to light our homes. Now, I’m not sure about the rest of the planet, but I’ve never even seen a whale oil lamp, much less used one.
Also, it’s really...
Prom Cancelled Over Lesbian Date →
I’m amazed at how backward some part of our countries still are. If you have a lesbian or gay student and they want to bring a date of the same sex, what’s the big deal?! Let them.
Don’t ruin everybody’s fun and ostracize someone because you’re holding on to some out-dated religion-based belief. Isn’t there supposed to be a separation of church and state in...
Stargate Universe Season 1.5 trailer. Yeah, I’m excited to find out who the “bad guys” are going to be. Hopefully some baddies we have a history with will make an appearance, but I’d really like to see some new threat show its face.
Redesign
Well, it’s been about a year (maybe a little more) since I last updated the look of the website (mercutiom.com) and I guess that means it’s time for a redesign. Since I’m doing a lot more on Twitter, 12seconds.tv, not to mention on the blog itself, I’m thinking that incorporating all those into the redesign will be a must.
The big question, though, is what do I want the...
Cool Little HTML5 Sketch Pad →
I thought Liv would find this interesting.
It’s been raining a lot here lately. So much so that there is actually moss growing throughout the backyard. It reminds me of the Midwest in Spring.

If you had access to a time machine, where and when would be the first place you travel to?
Jerusalem circa 30AD. Finally put that whole question to rest. Then up to Mecca in 620 to get that whole thing figured out as well. Oh, and I’m bringing a video camera.

To Torrent Or Not
I’m a tech geek so I know exactly how to torrent files. I even know how the whole torrent system works and why. Currently, I choose not to torrent anything, not even files and programs I could legally download.
But I’m aggravated. There are shows out there that I want to watch but I can’t. I work nights and watch most of my TV online through sites like Hulu and NetFlix. But...

Implant Removal Surgery
First things first: Not THAT kind of Implant!!!!
If you saw my last post, you saw my ugly teeth after the surgery I had on Friday. i had a failing Dental Implant that had to be removed. The surgery went well, and I have a whole lot of Vicodin that I’m not going to take and some Amoxicillin that I will.
The original reason for having the implants is the car accident I was in when I was...
